Deep Cleaning vs. Regular Cleaning: What's the Difference?
By Samantha · Solas Professional Cleaning Services · Updated October 19, 2026
If you are comparing house cleaning services, you will see both "regular cleaning" and "deep cleaning." They are different jobs with different goals.
What regular cleaning covers
A regular, or recurring, cleaning maintains a home that is already in good shape. It follows the same checklist each visit:
- Kitchen counters, sink, stovetop and appliance fronts
- Bathrooms, including toilets, showers, tubs, sinks and mirrors
- Dusting of reachable surfaces
- Vacuuming and mopping floors
- Making beds
What a deep clean adds
A deep clean does everything in a regular clean and adds the detail work that builds up between visits:
- Baseboards and door frames
- Buildup on faucets, fixtures, tile and grout edges
- Hard-to-reach spots, such as behind and under items that can be moved
- More time on high-touch and high-use areas
Because it takes more time, a deep clean costs more than a regular visit.
When you need a deep clean
- You are starting with a new cleaning service.
- It has been several months since a thorough clean.
- You are hosting guests, a party or a holiday.
- Seasons are changing and you want a reset.
- You have just finished renovations or a big project.
Why Solas starts new clients with a deep clean
A first deep clean brings the home to a clean baseline. After that, regular visits are quicker and the results stay consistent. That is why the first visit for every new recurring client is a deep clean.
First-time and deep cleans are priced separately from recurring service, based on your home's current condition. We'll confirm your rate after a quick walkthrough or a few photos.
Which should you choose?
If your home is in decent shape and you want to keep it that way, choose recurring cleaning. If you are catching up, resetting or preparing for an event, choose a one-time deep clean. Moving? That is a separate service: see our move-out cleaning checklist.
